What does a Payables Assistant do at M.i. Media?

A Payables Assistant will be a key support to the finance team. They would be expected to provide high-quality administrative and clerical assistance, keeping the Accounts Payable function up to speed and supporting the billing and operations teams.

M.i. Media is a cross-channel agency offering clients a range of services and as such a Payables Assistant would be expected to go above and beyond to ensure that our account teams can service their clients to the highest standard.

What experience and skills are required?

A Payables Assistant should be ready to take on a bit of everything and have a ‘can do’ attitude. It’s all about learning the ropes of the business, absorbing new skills and working with the team to make our business run smoothly. As part of this role the Payables Assistant will be supporting in the following areas:

  • Supplier invoice processing - overhead and media owner

  • Working closely with the media billing team to ensure all media costs are logged and billed to clients in a timely and accurate manner

  • Staff expenses processing

  • Filing and maintenance of the invoice system

  • Answering supplier queries

  • Statement reconciliation

  • Chasing outstanding queries and invoices

  • Working as part of the finance team to implement a new finance system

It would also be beneficial to have had prior experience in an Accounts Payable role (not necessarily specific to a media agency).

  • Be able to coordinate and prioritise a number of tasks at the same time

  • Self-motivated and proactive

  • Confident, approachable, and willing to build strong relationships

What systems and software skills are required?

We would expect a Payables Assistant to have experience using:

  • MS software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

It would be beneficial, but not essential, for a Payables Assistant to be familiar with:

  • Synergist

  • MMS+
